EM-312 Kit
A wonderful sounding 12 inch three way kit based on our own EM-TL3006Y-8 Super woofer, with it stiff cone it gives out deep smooth bass, it is the heart of this 3 way kit. One designed to reproduce warm natural mids and clean accurate highs, all brilliantly controlled by our own T-306 1000 watt crossover, one well matched to each of the drivers in this kit, hitting each of the drivers sweet spots perfectly, which will give you a well balanced no frills, good sounding 3 way speaker. Build a simple ported cabinet of 2.67 cf. ( with internal dimentions of 12.5" by 12.5" by 29.5" using 3/4 material you get outside measurments of 31" by 14" by 14" tuned to 36Hz. using a 3" D by 3.250" L round port tube.)
What you will expect is something similar to the Old School JBL or Cerwin Vega sound, with a clean you feel it in the chest bass, one your neighbors will enjoy as well. A design great for todays main stream music and still able to reproduce the warmth of yesterdays melodic masterpieces and toe tapping diddies from times gone by. A very versatile design sure to please the majority of the listeners ears, a kit able to be built using simple basic hand tools and skills, a wonderful bonding project for parents and kids oif all ages. Assembly is straight forward, as the crossover is clearly marked, a small bit of soldering a few lentghts of wire to the drivers and terminal cups is all that is required it is a perfect project for the experienced builder or novice alike. You wil need to come up with a 3" port tube, it needs to be 3 1/4" long, some nice 3/4" minimum plywood.
You can modify as you like, just try to keep the volume to about the 2.67cf for optimum performance to get the 24Hz - 20KHz response.
All Tied together by our Mavin T306 1000 watt 3 way crossover perfectly to the drivers above, complete with a nice set of terminal cups.
Build a nice set of cabinets with a volume of about 2.5 to 3 cubic feet and you should be fine. I prefer ported designs because of the ease in matching the cabinet to the woofer, but sealed is an option if that is the way you choose to go..
