I made this for another co-worker. This guy had 1 karaoke speaker in his house for music. It was sad. I let him pick out the colors and finish. He's crazy about them. Used a $20 chip amp with bluetooth for power. Works flawlessly. Even his wife approves. John helped me with cabinet size and port size. If I remember correctly they were 10x10x18 with a 2" PVC port. I made this and the mains for my older brother who apparently is nearly deaf. I left this sealed but added some acoustic foam in the inside. I cut an 18" red oak front baffle and cut a recess with a router. I painted the cabinet white and stained the oak "Gunstock" and shot some poly on it. Turned out pretty nice. Sounds great. Kit went together like a dream. Zero problems.

A co-worker and good friend of mine thought his TV speakers were great. I have him set up with some stuff I had hiding in my garage and built this center channel for him. He was blown away. It even impress his wife to the point she made us dinner. I just put the drivers in a sealed cabinet with a little acoustic foam inside. Oak veneer on the front and painted the rest black. Shot some poly on it. While I was trying to break it in I thought the tweeter was pretty bright. I had the Polk A [...read more]
