5" ESS Labs Closed Back Mid Range Speaker
Drivers are new, purchased direct from ESS Labs.

Nice little 5" closed back mid range speaker, it is a round frame design with a grill.
It is a cloth roll, paper cone design with a healthy magnet, at least 12 oz.
Rated to 60 watts RMS, this would work well in a design up to 250 watts.

At 5 1/8" in dia, it fits into a 4" mounting hole and is 2 1/4" deep.
It is rated at 8 ohms, 60 watts RMS, is ESS Labs part number AC400M.

They are bulk packed and sold in pairs, buy one, you get one pair of drivers.
Comes with our 90 day warranty.

Frequency response is in the 70 Hz. to 9 kHz. range. In fact running a sweep and listening to the speaker it sounded pretty flat through that range.

Closed Back design, isolated the Mid range Driver. There is no interaction with the woofer.

I replaced the mid-ranges, in a pair of Realistic Optimus T-300 speakers, with these. No modifications, other than sealing gaskets, were made. The mid-range clarity and presence are noticeably better than the originals. My Carver TCM-35 and Holographic pre-amp make it sing. I wish they would have fit my Acoustic Research AR-3As as well, but they would not.

Used these to replace blown GRS 5 in. sealed back midranges, mounting holes were exactly the same, but the ESS sound quality is crystal clear compared to the grainy GRS mids.
